Mallorca guided tour with lunch and transport

The true beauty of Mallorca is actually hidden to most tourists, who spend all their time on the busy beaches that everyone knows. Instead of following the crowds, we’re keeping it super-local on this Mallorca tour that shows you where to find the real beauty that only locals know.

We’ll meet in town, then take a comfortable local bus to reach the beginning of our walk. From there, the trail we’ll follow is a historical path, once used by postmen to go from one village to another. As we walk, we’ll learn about native Mediterranean plants, and stop to admire the panoramic view from a mountaintop. We’ll land in the historical village of Serra Tramuntana.

We’ll then arrive at a hidden beach – well, hidden to the tourists, that is! Locals love to go here, and we’ll join them as we soak up the sun and sea, and dig into a delicious lunch of typical Mallorcan food and drinks, such as empanadas and cocas de trampò. We’ll also dig into some delicious desserts such as ensaimada or gatò with almonds… delicious!

In the summer months, you can work off your lunch with a dip in the sea; in winter, just lie out in the sun and soak up that easy Mediterranean vibe.

In the afternoon, we’ll again board the local bus to take us back into Palma, where you’re free to explore on your own.

Note that this walk is fairly easy and along a marked trail. The walk will take about three hours (including stops), with elevations of 300 metres up and almost 400 metres down.

Secrets of Mallorca

Mountains, cliffs, and vast fields – the Serra de Llevant range in the east of the island has much to offer. Discover authentic farms, ancient towns and dramatic caves in one great day. Crisscrossed with narrow cobblestone streets, this ancient town is perfect for a lazy stroll. Elsewhere, you’ll visit a traditional market that offers the chance to try some local delicacies.

East Coast Trio – Caves, Market & More

Three of eastern Majorca’s most colourful attractions are on the menu in this full day excursion. You’ll visit a popular farmers’ market, one of Mallorca’s famous stalactite-filled caves and a pearl factory.

It all kicks off with a trip to a traditional farmer’s market – a tradition going back to the Middle Ages – which brings together farmers, craftsmen and would-be buyers of fresh produce and leather goods. Expect noise. Expect colour. And expect scents – from aromatic herbs to pungent cheeses. This is Majorca in its purest form.

Next up, we’ll head to one of Mallorca’s dramatic cave systems. With underwater lakes, a concert on water and stalagmites and stalactites it’s as though they’ve come straight out of a movie. Clever lighting and atmospheric background music enhance the experience. The final stop is a chance to appreciate island artisans at work with visits to the Manacor pearl factory and a ceramics centre.

Palma and More

The old town of Palma is one of the best preserved in Spain. A maze of streets radiates from its majestic seafront cathedral, with everything from narrow alleys with rustic bars to boulevards lined with chic boutiques. The Majorcan capital is a must-visit when on holidays in the island. On this excursion, you’ll have free time in the city or can combine it with a cathedral visit or a hop on-hop off bus tour.

You’ll be picked up and brought to the heart of the old town. Almost 2km of medieval walls still stand – and you can stroll along most of them. Head in a bit, and check out the plazas with terrace cafés, the plentiful shops and galleries and museums.

As well as free time in Palma, you can also visit the vast Gothic cathedral or take a fun hop on-hop off bus tour.

Venture North

Tucked into the very north of Majorca, the Pollença area boasts the best of both worlds. You’ll get to discover both the history-steeped Pollença proper and the elegant seaside town of Port de Pollença on this exclusive excursion. There’s free time to explore the farmers’ market and wander the promenade.

The fun kicks off in Pollença, which lies in the plain where the Tramuntana Mountains meet the sea. You’ll have a couple of hours to check out the market. Or climb the cypress-lined 365 steps that lead to the Calvari church – the views over the town and surrounding area are fantastic. Then we’ll make the short hop to Port de Pollença. Its seafront is lined with stylish villas and hotels from various golden ages. You’ll also find upmarket eateries serving net-fresh seafood.

From June to September we’ll take a short boat trip over to Playa Formentor. This beach is unique and rather beautiful – on one side you have clear turquoise water and on the other, lush green forest. And the shallow bay makes it perfect for swimmers. A stop at the viewpoint Mirador Es Colomer rounds off the day.

You’ll take a comfortable local bus from the town to reach the beginning of the walk. From there, the trail you’ll follow is a historical path, once used by postmen to go from one village to another. During the walk, you’ll learn about native Mediterranean plants, and stop to admire the panoramic view from a mountaintop. Spanish lesson and guided tour with breakfast in Mallorca

This Mallorca tour is an adventure in language, culture, and food (all the things we love about travel, really). Instead of sitting in a stuffy classroom, we’re going to practice our Spanish skills over a hearty breakfast on the island of Mallorca. We’ll gain a better understanding for how the Spanish language influences how locals think and live. Find out the difference between uro and ido, and learn when it’s the right time to let your Batuadell or Cagondell phrases fly.

We’ll meet at the Saint Francisco Church, then walk to a historic bar in the city centre. How old is this bar? Well, locals have loved this place since the 1700s. The bar feels almost magical inside, and is a pleasure year-round — in the summer, locals come to enjoy ice cream or horchata, while winter visitors order up hot chocolate and ensaimada cakes.

In this cosy spot, we’ll enjoy a cultural breakfast and share some key Spanish words that will help you to better understand the local culture and lifestyle. The experience will be very informal and interactive — more like a conversation with friends than a lesson. We’ll share cultural stories and you’ll walk away knowing the good, the bad, and everything in between about Mallorca and Mallorcan culture!

You may fear that you won’t learn much in such a short experience, but don’t worry, we’ll help you to keep practicing at home, too. After our session, we’ll bid adeu (not adios) and you’ll get your own Spanish book that you can bring home with you as a souvenir.

Hams Caves

Ten million years in the making, the Hams Caves were worth the wait. More than just a cool place to escape Majorca’s summer heat, this system boasts three caverns – each offering a different visual experience. Located just outside Porto Cristo in the east of the island, the Hams Caves make for an ideal family outing.

Despite their millennial age, the Coves del Hams, as they are known locally, were only discovered in 1905. Visit the Round Cave, a vast open cavern that’s straight out of Jurassic Park. It has a botanical garden and its microclimate attracts many species of birds.

Then there’s the Classic Cave. Made up of 12 galleries and an underground lake, which is where the Sea of Venice musical show is presented. And there’s the Blue Cave, which all TUI guests visit. State-of-the-art lighting has brought it to life, and there’s an auditorium, where you can watch the Discovering the Past documentary. Insta-perfect spots include ‘Samson’s Pillars’ and the ‘Pit of Hell’.

Hidden East

You’ll snack your way around east of Majorca on this tour. Visit the market in Manacor or Inca, enjoy a mini-train through the olive groves of Son Mesquidassa and drop into Els Calderers country estate. This is one of our TUI Collection excursions, which give you a local flavour of the destination while showcasing its unique, authentic and responsible values.

With stalls selling fruit and vegetables picked from nearby fields as well as artisanal produce, your first stop at the farmers’ market in Manacor or Inca promises to be a fruitful one. Taste some of the goods on offer, then continue to Felanitx to hop aboard a train bound for Son Mesquidassa – an olive growing finca.

You’ll journey through acres of olive groves and wind up at the main house, where a spread of ‘pa amb oli’ will allow you to taste its olive oil after a guided tour. The day ends at Els Calderers, a manor house. Stroll through the gardens, poke around its ethnological museum and see the farm animals.
