Budapest Cave Walk

Many people know that Hungary is a country blessed with an abundance of thermal springs. But only few people are aware, that these same medicinal waters have carved a deep and intricate cave system under the city over the course of millions of years.

You start with a visit to Szemlő-hegyi Cave known as “the under ground flower garden of Budapest”, a tribute to the spectacular formations of pisolite and gypsum crystals. Because the caves enjoy a steady temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with dust and allergen free air, along with 100% humidity, at it lowest level there is a respiratory sanatorium.

Then take a walk to the next site, Pál-völgyi Cave. It’s the longest cave system in Hungary at around 31 km and known for its lofty passageways and great level differences. Audiophiles take note as you will experience the famous Theatre Hall, renowned as an echo chamber with its impressive acoustics. The tour concludes with a peek at the quarry from one of the caves many hidden exits.

Bucharest is definitely a fascinating city for anyone crossing its borders. But there is more to see here than just the Old Town. You are invited on a discovery trip right next to the capital city, where beautiful sights and attractions await. At 08:00, you will start your journey towards the exciting surroundings of Bucharest city. Commence your journey with the fascinating Mogoșoaia Palace, placed outside the city in a lovely location. The palace is the best example of Brâncoveanu architecture, a style widely spread around the Wallachia region. The palace was built by the ruler Constantin Brancoveanu in 1702. After the execution of Constantin Brancoveanu in Constantinople in 1714, the palace continues to be owned by the family with renovations starting in 1912. In the present, the palace hosts the Museum of Brancoveanu Art and is an important tourist attraction.

Next, move on towards one of the most famous sights in Romania and the place where Dracula is supposed to be buried – Sangov Monastery. The monastery is located on an island in the northern part of Snagov Lake. The monastery was built by Mircea the Elder (the grandfather of the famous Dracula), who also made the first documentary attestation of this church in 1408.

During its history, the monastery was rebuilt by Vlad the Impaler and some other rulers of Wallachia. It has been one of the strongest fortified churches and maybe the richest in Wallachia for a long time during the medieval period. After enjoying this great tour, it will be time to head back towards the capital city. The tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel in Bucharest.

After just two kilometers from Follina, you can already admire the majestic Castel Brando in Cison di Valmarino; continue towards Vittorio Veneto and, following the road that will take you to Conegliano, you will stop for a coffee break at the foot of its castle.

Excursions Croatia by Musement

Elaphite Islands

There are more than 1,000 islands in Croatia – but few are more beautiful than the 13 in the Elaphite Islands. On this full day island-hopping excursion you’ll visit the two largest – Lopud and Sipan – and explore these oases of scented citrus plantations, pine-clad hills and sandy beaches.

After pick-up at your hotel, we’ll head for Gruz port to hop on a boat and sail to Lopud. The second largest island in the archipelago is car-free and mostly covered in thick woodlands, among which can be found long-abandoned chapels. You’ll have free time to wander around the picturesque old harbour or drop into the Franciscan monastery.

We’ll then sail to Sipan, the largest of the islands, for a lunch of either fish or chicken. It used to be the summer playground of Dubrovnik aristocrats, and palatial villas in various states of repair can be spotted. Stroll the promenade under gaze of locals playing cards in cafeterias or knitting in porches.

Once Odysseus landed on the shores of Ogygia, now known as the island of Mljet, he couldn’t resist the charm of the nymph Calypso and the island itself. So, it’s said he stayed for seven years before he was free to go, and you’ll see it all for yourself on this boat trip to Odysseus Cave.

After sailing for just over an hour, you’ll anchor up in front of the cave, which from the outside looks just like a small tunnel carved into the limestone rock. Then it’s up to you whether you swim or take a smaller boat inside, where once you’re through to the other side, everything opens up before you. Magical Istria from Rovinj

Istria is a melting pot of cultures where historic towns and delicious dishes vie for your attention. This excursion takes in some of its star turns and also features a lunch of tasty local specialities. Itineraries vary depending on where you’re staying but expect to visit some of Bale, Grzini, Porec, Pula and Rovinj.

Ancient Porec is now as famed for its modern bars and clubs as its Euphrasian Basilica – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And in Pula, your guide will bring to life the times of gladiators and roaring crowds on a visit to its towering and remarkably well-preserved Roman Arena. While in the Venetian-style town of Rovinj, you’ll explore narrow streets fringed by Roman and Byzantine treasures.

Tabarca Island Boat Trip

Tiny Tabarca Island is one of the Costa Blanca’s best-kept secrets and a daytrip here is an unmissable experience. It’s just a 20-minute boat ride from the mainland but once you get there, you’ll feel like you’ve travelled back in time – there are no cars for a start. But this trip is more about what Tabarca does have.

There’s the walled town covering the western half of the island. It’s home to about 60 residents – a century ago, there were more than 1,000 – and has just a handful of streets. Then there’s the recently restored baroque church over by the sea – there can’t be many prettier churches in Spain. And then there are the gorgeous little coves and beaches with crystalline waters lapping against them.

And then there’s the rest of the island – an expanse of bushes and cactus punctured only by an old prison and lighthouse, with tracks leading to cemetery in the eastern tip. To walk from tip to tip takes about half an hour – so it’s very doable as well as enjoyable.

It’s a tangy start to the day at the orange garden, where you’ll be able to enjoy a glass of freshly squeezed juice. Next up is a visit to a textile shop, where you’ll be tempted to grab a bargain. Perge & Aspendos Tour

You’ll travel back in time to the days of togas and chariots with this half-day excursion to the ancient sites of Perga and Aspendos. Among the attractions you’ll discover is perhaps the best-preserved Roman theatre of all.

First on the history hitlist is the classical city of Perga. This once-bustling Roman port was founded around 1300 BC and the first stop for St Paul on his missionary journeys around the Mediterranean. Take a guided tour, stepping through the triumphal Roman gate to admire the ruined temples, marketplace and fountains. On the column-lined main street, you can even see the grooves in the flagstones created by chariot wheels. There’s also a 12,000-seater stadium and the remnants of a Bronze Age acropolis.

Next, we go to Aspendos to see one of the best-preserved theatres from antiquity. Built 2,000 years ago into a steep hillside and big enough for 15,000 spectators, its perfect acoustics mean that it’s still used for operas and concerts today.

Perge & Aspendos Tour

Pamukkale and Lake Salda

Pamukkale means ‘cotton castle’ in Turkish – and you’ll see why as soon as you set eyes upon its magical landscape. Heading deep into the Anatolian countryside, you’ll also visit Hierapolis, Lake Salda and Cleopatra’s Pool. This is one of our TUI Collection excursions, which give you a local flavour of the destination while showcasing its unique, authentic and responsible values.

Leaving Antalya early in the morning, you’ll arrive at Lake Salda Lake after a few hours’ scenic drive. It’s been compared to the Maldives for its long beaches and multi-toned blue waters. You’ll have free time to wander around and savour the beauty of the location

You’ll then head to Pamukkale for lunch. Afterwards, catch a peek of the bright white terraces before exploring the ruins of Hierapolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then let off steam with a dip in Cleopatra’s Ancient Pool, where you swim among ancient ruins, before dinner in a forest restaurant on the way back.

Monster Off-Road, Jet Boat & Rafting

If there’s ever a trip out that combines all the thrills and spills you’d want, then this is it. You’ll ride through a nature park in a Monster Truck, whizz over Koprulu Canyon in a jet boat and supercharge the afternoon with some white water rafting. Even the transfer from the hotel is ramped up a level.

Calling all adrenaline junkies, this Antalya tour comes with a twist. You’ll travel off-road to the base camp from where the unrelenting action is about to be released. Climb into a Monster Truck and set off on a sightseeing safari – but not quite as you know it. You’ll experience nature, but this time bumping over the land in a thrilling experience.

Before lunch, there’s the small matter of getting over the Koprulu Canyon, so a jet boat comes to your rescue. Glide past amazing rock formations and enter the canyon in this supercharged machine. Your last adventure will be white water rafting, when you’ll get to freshen up in the midst of the gentle rapids.

Side by night

All Roman ruins and great sea views, the peninsula town of Side is one of the must-sees in this corner of Turkey. What makes it doubly appealing is that its archaeological relics are randomly scattered around the old town.

An evening visit is the ideal way to combine some sightseeing and dinner. By arriving during the early evening you can check out Side’s showpiece – the Temple of Apollo. Perched on the end of the peninsula, it’s said that Antony and Cleopatra held love trysts under its shining white columns. And you’ll see it at the best time of day – sunset. When the sun has dropped below the horizon, you’ll have some free time on your own to look round.

Check out the other ruins or delve into the old town whose grid-like streets are stuffed with stone houses, shops and bazaars. After this, you’ll end your evening at a harbour-side restaurant where you can tuck into an included two-course dinner.

Blue Cruise Alanya

A boat trip that offers the best of both worlds – a tranquil start with a party atmosphere later on. This cruise along the Alanya coast is the perfect escape from the bustling resorts and when you’re fully recharged, get ready to dance along to your favourite top hits.

As you sail out of the harbour, sit back, relax and listen to the waves as you glide out to sea. You can chill out on the main deck and soak up the sun with a drink in hand and, when the captain drops anchor, jump in for a refreshing swim. A fresh and tasty lunch is served on board and, with all local drinks included, you can keep the cocktails coming.

In the afternoon there’ll be a couple more swim stops – bring a snorkel and mask to really make the most of the clear waters. Then it’s time to party. Banging tunes and lots of foam make for a full-on boat party atmosphere so you can dance and sing all the way back to dry land.

Walking tour of the US Cemetery

In this guided tour, you will visit the American cemetery with a local guide and learn about the history of D-Day, June 6th,1944. The U.S. Cemetery is a place of reverence, remembrance, and peace. This enormous cemetery, laid out in the style of a Latin cross, is the final resting place for the brave men who went to fight for freedom and what was right. It is not only a burial ground for Americans, but also a handful of other nationalities. In addition to the traditional cross to indicate those of Christian Faith, there are also Stars of David to mark the Jewish lives lost.

Even though the story behind each grave is a sad one, the sacrifice of all deserves to be recognized. Some of them are well-known, such as the three Medal of Honor recipients, three generals (including General Theodore Roosevelt, Jr.), the two Niland brothers (the basis for the movie “Saving Private Ryan”), and the Ollie Reed father and son duo.
